NYC Best Wings, Harlem Edition: Just Wingin It’s “Super Nova” Sauce Burns Brightest

January 28, 2009

The quest for NYC’s best wings continues! For this post I joined Eating In Translation’s Dave Cook in Harlem where we followed his route from 110th street to 145th street trying wings at three take out spots.  This meant passing on soul food stalwarts Amy Ruth’s and Sylvia’s, but fear not, we’ll tackle those two on another adventure.  Of the 5 varieties of wings sampled, only one truly soared. Read on to learn which wings wowed and where you can find a place with 17 homemade sauce flavors.

NYC Best Wings Part 1: Blind Tiger Ale House Flies Ahead of the Pack

December 12, 2008

NYC Food Guy loves wings; high quality chicken, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and doused in a fiery sauce. Astonishingly, there are no go to wings in New York City. Dinosaur BBQ never disappoints but it’s just one place, way uptown. That’s why I’ve made it my mission to find the city’s best wings in as many tours as it takes. Part One of my adventure features eight spots, only one of which truly impressed. Read on to find out about some great deals, some wings to avoid and whether or not the legend of Scruffy Duffy’s wings lives.

Dinosaur BBQ: Chicken Wing Redux

April 7, 2008

NYC Food Guy wants to take a moment to reiterate the deliciousness of Dinosaur BBQ’s Chicken Wings. King of Ketchup noted their supremacy a few months back but I had them this past weekend and they were excellent. Massive, juicy, and doused in tangy, spicy sauce, they alone warrant a trip to Harlem. I recommend the Wango Tango which provides a spice that will make you sweat without overpowering the perfectly charred skin. I implore you to ask for them well done because when cooked right, you’ll understand why man invented fire.

Super Bowl Feast + Underdog Lounge Wings + Giants Win = Happy NYC Food Guy

February 5, 2008

Big Effin Blue. The Giants have done the impossible. Three straight playoff road wins and a NFL record 11 straight road wins overall. It was a total team effort, strong and determined, similar to the display put on by the NYC Food Guy and friends as they feasted, at work, during the game.

Amazing wings, greasy pizza, corn and potato chips, fresh veggies, 2 kinds of dip, salsa, Morton’s steak sandwiches.

I’m getting hungry just thinking about it.
