UWS Slice Tour: Caesar’s Palace Pizza, New Pizza Town, Bella Roma and Francesco

April 10, 2008

What better way to start the day than by continuing NYC Food Guy’s Upper West Side Slice Tour? Today it was 4 slices over the course of 30 blocks.

Can any spot lay claim to the best slice on the UWS? Are any really worth going back to? Only one way to find out….

Rigoletto Pizza: Upper West Side Success

February 13, 2008

I’ve been meaning to stop in at Rigoletto Pizza for a few months, hoping to grab a slice while walking to work. Unfortunately, I’m always running late and it wasn’t until a frigid Monday night that I grabbed a slice. Better late than never, Rigoletto’s plain slice passed the test. The search for the best slice on the UWS continues, but I’ll be eating at Rigoletto again before then.

Read on to see how Rigoletto stood up to NYC Food Guy’s Pizza Test…

Koronet Pizza: Bigger does NOT equal better

November 30, 2007

Koronet Pizza on 111th St. & Broadway serves what is arguably the biggest slice in New York City. Unfortunately, that doesn’t equate to big quality. Then again, this might be the best drunk slice in New York; it’s the size of your head and you won’t feel bad about getting 2 slices because 1 at Koronet is the size of 2.

Look at that slice ($3) it’s as big as the tray.

UWS Pizza Tour: Traviata’s Garlic Sauce Surprises

November 16, 2007

If you look for just “Traviata” in the phone book, you won’t find this pizza place. You’ll have to look under “La Traviata.” Apparently there is a “La Traviata” in Brooklyn and when the owner heard about this hole-in-the-wall slice joint with the same name, he strong-armed the “La” right off the awning, hence the present establishment, home of a delicious topping NYC Eats hasn’t found anywhere else: Garlic Sauce

UWS Pizza Tour: T&R, Freddie & Pepper’s, and City Pie all disappoint

November 14, 2007

My quest to eat a slice and maybe more at as many of New York’s slice joints as humanly possible begins in my UWS neighborhood.
